37. Squamous Portion of the Temporal Bone and the Greater Wing of the Sphenoid


Greater Wing of Sphenoid. Is a bony process of the sphenoid bone, there is one on each side, extending from the side of the body of the sphenoid and curving upward, laterally and backward. 

Squamous Portion of the Temporal Bone. Left of the temporal bone. Outer surface. The squamous part of the temporal bone forms the front and upper part of the temporal bone and is scale-like, thin and translucent. 

MT's avoid this area because of nerves (facial and trigeminal) are in this area.
